I am Mukesh Rawat.

Welcome to this small world of mine. Here I shall be sharing with you what I think and feel about this interesting world of ours. This website primarily caters to my writings and other works.

Presently I am a freelance journalist based in New Delhi. In the past my work has been published in likes of The Diplomat, Himal Southasian, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Tehelka, The Pioneer, Governance Now, The Deccan Herald, Catch News, Journal of the Press Institute of India, The Citizen and regional publications like the Northeast Today, Eastern Panorama, Garhwal Post, Uttaranchal Patrika, Women’s Era and Alive.

Writing-as an exercise- has been a rather chance discovery for me. I started writing not because of a conscious effort, but as an aftermath of a tragedy at home. In 2011, just out of school, it was a very humble start for me when my first article was published in Garhwal Post- a local English daily from Dehradun, Uttarakhand. From being an engineering aspirant, in months I switched over to social sciences. (This encounter is captured in this article in detail.)

Starting with Garhwal Post, I then moved on to other regional publications like Eastern Panorama (Shillong), North East Today, Alive and others. After a year, I had my break with national publications like Tehelka, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Governance Now, The Pioneer, Deccan Herald and others. The next jump was in 2014-15 when five write-ups of mine were published in The Diplomat (a strategic affairs magazine from Tokyo) and one in the prestigious Himal Southasian from Katmandu.

I of course do not claim to have achieved anything great in these four years. There are a plentiful of writers and I perfectly understand that I am just an iota in the crowd. But with your continued support I will try perform better each time and try bring out some change in this exciting society of ours.

What shall be the end of this journey with the pen, I do not know. Will I be able to carry it long? I do not know. But I have enjoyed it so far. My identity has been defined by my pen so far.

Of course there will be falls but to rise again and again is what tests ones metal.

Looking forward to your feedback and constructive criticism.

Hope you all will have an interesting and fruitful time here!
